Travel Spot: Silent Retreat at the Cenacle
Holy Week in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. This Christian week includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. It is the last week of Lent, the week immediately preceding Easter or Resurrection Sunday.
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are declared non-working holidays in the Philippines. Hence many Filipinos take advantage of the long weekend by spending quality time and bonding moments with their families and friends outside Metro Manila. I spent my Holy Week at work (yes, we’re business as usual on holidays).
Hence to anticipate the Holy Week, I did my soul-searching and spiritual meditation a week in advance at my usual special favorite retreat place, The Cenacle Retreat House.
Each year thousands come to the Cenacle to share its peace and serenity, to search for meaning and direction, to listen to the Lord, to learn what it is to be a Christian today.
