Crisp cool weather. Cloudless blue skies. Brisk climate averaging 15 to 22 degrees Celcius. Countless tourist spots. Numerous culturally rich streetscapes. Innumberable photo-worthy panoramic views. Countless friendly Filipinos all around. Different ambrosial delish cuisine. The list goes on and on. So, what’s not to love about San Francisco, California? Nada. Zinch. Zero.
To date, San Francisco remains to be one of the top tourist destinations in the world, ranking 35th out of the 100 most visited cities worldwide. This destination is renowned for its cool summers, thick fogs, steep rolling hills, eclectic mix of architecture, and awesome landmarks inclusive of the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, Alcatraz Island, Lombard road, and Fisherman’s Wharf.
My five days in San Francisco, California were significantly brighter, sunnier, and more brilliant. These fun five days in San Francisco were sponsored by Sun Life Financial Philippines via its Sun Shorts campaign.
“SUN SHORTS is Sun Life Philippines’ installment of a regional short film project called Experience the Sun, which is a collaboration between Sun Life Financial and film makers in Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines. The project brings to life the power and beauty of the Sun through the eyes of top directors across the region. SUN SHORTS is an extension of this venture, made specifically for the Philippine audience.”

Travel package also includes meet and greet with ABS CBN talents, specifically the cast of ABS CBN’s ongoing teleserye Walang Hanggan. ABS CBN talents were at the press conference at the ABS CBN International office and at Santa Clara’s California Great America for the One Kapamilya Go Event.
ABS CBN talents were at the press conference at the ABS CBN International office and at Santa Clara’s California Great America for the One Kapamilya Go Event. The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) ‘One Kapamilya Go’ (an engaging interaction between Filipinos and the top Filipino celebrities) started in 2008 and has continued annually. Last September 16th, at California’s Great America theme park in Santa Clara, California, the event lived up to tradition by drawing another sold-out crowd of almost 11,000.
San Francisco is located on the West Coast of the United States in the north part of the San Francisco Peninsula. SFO includes significant stretches of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay within its boundaries.
San Francisco is well known for its Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate (the opening of the San Francisco Bay onto the Pacific Ocean). The Golden Gate Bridge had the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and California.
Alcatraz Island is located in the San Francisco Bay, 2.4 km offshore from San Francisco, California. Often referred to as “The Rock,” the small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison (1868), and a federal prison from 1933 until 1963. Our group wasn’t able to ferry across the bay to go to Alcatraz Island. Hence, am zooming on the island via super zoom lens.
San Francisco is famous for its hills. There are more than 50 hills within city limits. On Russian Hill, a residential neighborhood, lies the famously crooked Lombard street. Lombard Street is best known for the one-way section on Russian Hill between Hyde and Leavenworth Streets, in which the roadway has eight sharp turns that have earned the street the distinction of being the crookedest slash most winding street in the world. The speed limit in this section is 5 mph (8 km/h).
Two of the 50 rolling hills are coined Twin Peaks, a pair of hills resting at one of the city’s highest points. Twin peaks form a popular overlook spot, offering a fabulous view of the San Fo city below.
