Food Trip: Private Dining at Chef Tatung’s Private Kitchen

Chef Tatung is a private dining restaurant located in a residential area in Quezon City. It boasts of intimate dining experience in a very cozy home setting.

I chose this private restaurant as the venue of our mini college get-together one rainy afternoon in December. I have made reservations several weeks in advance for our party of 5 girls. Reservations had to be done early as walk-ins are not accommodated. Chef Tatung’s is a private kitchen, a restaurant set up in Chef Myke Sarthou’s own house and garden.

Restaurant guests have the option to stay at one of two areas of the restaurant, either inside the house for a homey atmosphere or stay outside the garden. We opted inside as it was gently raining at our time of visit.

Our group had late lunch complete with Chef Tatung’s best sellers.

For appetizers, we had Chicken Sisig Lettuce Wrap – a must try! Minced grilled chicken fillets, chopped onions, green chillies, taro chips, with mango sauce.

For entree, Grilled Gindara in Mama’s Coconut Cream Sauce – a seafood best seller. Grilled Gindara , mama’s recipe coconut sauce with diced shrimps, atchara.

Honey-glazed slow roasted pork belly – a pork best seller! Melt in your mouth pork belly roasted in a brick oven for four hours on a bed of garlic and lemon grass.

We were looking forward to having Fresh Tuba Shake, a non-alchoholic drink of blended frozen coconut sap. However, to our disappointment, this was unavailable. We had to settle for the next best thing, sago’t gulaman.

For dessert, we had warm tsoknut chocolate cake. Moist chocolate cake with ganache and tsoknut to satisfy your sweet cravings.

Chef Tatung’s mom is an avid European art collector, hence the European feel at the restaurant.

Chef Tatung’s Private Kitchen is a nice break from the boxed experience franchised restaurants in Quezon City have to offer. The restaurant offers a nice mix of cozy experience private dining, plus excellent gourmet food, coupled with good customer service.

Chef Tatung’s Private Kitchen – highly recommended.
