Travel: Revisiting Macau in 2011

Given its proximity, whenever I’m in HongKong (read about my HongKong Trip here), I never pass up an opportunity to visit Macau. I guess several tourists have the same idea, as evidenced by the looooong lines from the HongKong immgration to the New Ferry berths.

Travel time from HongKong to Macau and vice versa takes approximately an hour, sea condition-dependent.

While waiting for our companions, we decided to go around the Macau Ferry Terminal – – ATMs and food kiosks abound!

Our Macau tour started as soon as our group was complete.

Fourth Stop. Macau Toy Kingdoms (yes, plural). Sean requested for only one pasalubong – – a Harry Potter wand, which unfortunately was not available in Macau. I had to settle for the last set of Harry Potter and friends figures.

Our last stop was the Venetian Hotel and Casino. I love the Venetian. I was last here 3 years ago, and while not so many things have changed, a lot of stores have opened up. Charriol in Macau has more designs available!

The Venetion Casino. Lots of slot machine!

I first fell in love with the Venetian 3 years ago. I love the painted sky-feel ceiling, wide street-like hallway, excellent performances of the singers/dancers, and lovely Venetian canal.

We wanted to stay at the Venetian hotel. Apparently, there was a 70% off promo. But guess who failed to bring the bag with the credit cards and extra cash? Hence, we had to go back to our hotel in Hongkong via the Venetian Shuttle + Macau-HK Ferry. We’ll stay at the Venetian…some other time.

Others:
Macau accepts HongKong dollars, hence exchanging money is unnecessary. However, note that HongKong does not accept Macau dollars.

My first trip to Macau three years ago was not exactly problem-free. On our way back to Hongkong, we had to go to different terminals to buy tickets, as most tickets for the trip back to HongKong were sold out. Better buy your Macau-HongKong ticket as soon as you arrive at the ferry terminal.

My Travel Book of the Month to keep me company in HK and Macau.
My Travel Book of the Month – – Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto (Love love love the book. Love Sam’s writing style. T’was very challenging for me to put the book down. This book is definitely in my top 10).
