Food Trip: Va’Pensiero (An Authentic Italian Restaurant)
I love Chef Giorgio. I love his restos. So when Volare closed down (Read my Volare post here), I was devastated — only to find out the Chef Giorgio would put up a new resto to replace it.
Va, pensiero (Va, pensiero, sull’ali dorate – Fly, thought, on wings of gold, in English also known as Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) is a chorus from the third act of Nabucco (1842) by Giuseppe Verdi, with words by Temistocle Solera, inspired by Psalm 137. — wikipedia
Va’Pensiero’s resto is one of those authentic Italian restos where real Italians hang out. Chef Giorgio and his friends hang out in the resto every afternoon (to early evening, or I’d at times bump into him in the Araneta Center late evening).
