Food Trip: Black Soup Cafe + Artspace

Black Soup Cafe + Artspace was one of the famous spaces in the Cubao X area. It transferred from its original location in the heart of QC to Maginhawa Street near UP Diliman.

Black Soup Cafe + Artspace is located beside Van Gogh is Pipolar. Given that Van Gogh is Bipolar caters to individuals who prefer organic food, Arman and Sean would normally rather have dinner at Black Soup Cafe while I enjoy dinner with girlfriends at Van Gogh next door. I then meet the two boys back at Black Soup for dessert.

Children’s favorite: Macaroni and Cheese

I order the same dish every time we go to Black Soup: Spicy Tuyo Pasta

Black Soup stages individual and group poetry/spoken word performances from 6 PM to 9 PM. There are live music, slideshows, short films, declarations of love, hate, peace, or war. There was a short film exhibition aka car park film screening the first time I visited the cafe. Cool!

Aside from verbal/spoken art, the place was also treat to look at. Different types of photographs were spread on the walls and on the tables.

Bring friends and have dinner there while watching the performances. Open mic session may also follow afterwards.
