Food Trip: Bellini’s

Food Trip: Bellini’s

Mr. Roberto Bellini is a real former Italian paparazzo, as evidenced by the numerous photographs displayed on Bellini’s walls. Several photographs are those of international celebrities, famous tenors, sought after musicians, different countries’ presidents/prime ministers, well-known members of royal families, etc.

Bellini’s is highly visually interesting, its ambiance is comfortable yet elegant. Whilst most of the walls are adorned by numerous pictures, some of the walls and ceilings are adorned by paintings. The restaurant’s corners are meticulously designed with Italian ornaments – – say for example a small replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, violins, bottles of Italian wine, a small replica of the coliseum of Rome, etc.

I’ve been to Bellini’s at least thrice — twice at Bellini’s Cubao and once at Bellini’s Marikina (which is owned by Roberto’s son, Daniel, another photography enthusiast.) — and have ordered the same dish thrice (but managed to taste my companion’s food too =p ). I highly recommend Bellini’s risottos, soups, and thin pizzas.

I was in cloud nine. Good food. Great ambiance. Nice interesting photographs. Approachable owner. Reasonable bill.

Risotto ai funghi

My fave. This is the best Risotto Ai Funghi I have tasted BTW. No risotto from other big famous Italian restos comes close — yet.

Ai Pepperoni

Real bliss. Good food. Great ambiance. Nice interesting photographs. Approachable photography-enthusiast owner. Reasonable bill.

Others: I would recommend that you go to Bellini’s during off-peak resto hours. The place could be packed at times, thus making food service slow.

The Marikina branch is managed by the Daniel Bellini, Roberto’s son. He is a nice approachable Italian gentleman. Be prepared to share photography techniques and tips, as Daniel, like his dad, is a real paparazzo too. Check out his work at the Marikina branch.

Does the place look familiar? Yup, One More Chance by Jonn Lloyd and Bea Alonzo was shot here.
